On Wednesday (28), Univille discussed research, innovation, teaching and learning processes involving regenerative AI, and international cooperation at a meeting held at the Administrative Center of the Government of Santa Catarina.
The meeting brought together a delegation of Chinese representatives and institutions that are part of the ACAFE system, reinforcing the leading role of Santa Catarina’s community universities in regional development.

At the event, Univille was represented by Rector Alexandre Cidral, Vice-Rector Therezinha Maria Novais de Oliveira, Vice-Rector for Research, Graduate Studies and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Paulo Henrique Condeixa de França, and International Affairs Advisor, Dr. Juliana Bustamante.
During the presentation to the delegation, Cidral outlined Univille’s scope of activities as a university engaged in teaching, research, and community outreach, as well as the distinctive characteristics of the Joinville region, considering its economic, cultural, and social dimensions.
According to the Rector, the meeting was a significant opportunity to strengthen ties with ACAFE institutions and, above all, build connections and foster networking with international institutions.

“Univille contributes to social and human development. Through meetings like these, our researchers can establish connections that lead to new projects, the exchange of experiences, and knowledge sharing,” he explained.
During the meeting, the use of generative artificial intelligence in the Chinese education system was also discussed, including both management and pedagogical aspects. According to the discussions, the initiative is already being considered by Univille.
“It is a powerful technology that they are implementing across all levels of education. We already have some similar studies and ongoing research with the same focus,” he revealed.
The meeting was organized by the State Government’s Secretariat for National Coordination and included key institutions in the sector, such as the Santa Catarina State Research and Innovation Support Foundation (FAPESC), the Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation, and SC Invest.
