The nature of conflict and peace—and the role of the community university in this relationship—were explored by Prof. Dr. Roberto Beltrán Zambrano, a faculty member at the Technical University of Loja, Ecuador, during a lecture for Univille’s managers, advisors, and coordinators. The session took place on Tuesday (10) as part of the 2026 Management Development Program (PDG 2026).
Drawing on perspectives related to ethical education and economic innovation, the professor presented an integrated view of conflict, highlighting the inevitability of disagreements, their social and environmental dimensions, and the importance of peaceful coexistence without violence.

As an illustrative example, Zambrano highlighted the impact of illicit economies in Latin America, particularly organized crime, which is directly connected to public security and the region’s social and economic dynamics. In this context, the role of the community university in promoting knowledge, citizenship, and local social and economic development is reaffirmed.
According to the professor, the university cannot be a passive actor. Instead, it must pursue two essential fronts: addressing these challenges, advancing knowledge, and taking responsibility for social and economic development.

The lecture is part of the PDG 2026 program, organized by the Human Resources Management Department of FURJ and the Institutional Planning, Assessment and Regulatory Coordination Office of Univille.
This year, the program is being held in partnership with the Rectoral Board Institute, through the Advanced Studies Program in Higher Education Management & Leadership (EAGLES).
