On Monday (October 20), Paralympic medalist Edenilson Floriani and his coach, Eliandro Braz Lúcio, expressed their gratitude for Univille’s support following their achievements at the World Para Athletics Championships in India: two bronze medals, in the shot put and javelin throw, as well as three new records—two Brazilian records and one Americas record.

Recognition and Emotion on the Univille Campus
Edenilson and Eliandro were welcomed by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Extension and Community Affairs and its team (pictured above) during a moment of celebration and gratitude.
“We would like to thank Univille for its support. Since 2016, it has been my second home. Everyone at Univille should feel part of these medals and continue cheering for all of us here at CEPE,” said Edenilson.
Coach Eliandro, who is also a Univille graduate, emphasized the university’s role in their achievement:
“This is a way of showing that Univille is part of our achievement. I graduated here in 2016, and I have been at Univille since 2002 because I am a former athlete in this sport. So Univille is also my second home.”
Patrícia Magri, Vice-Rector for Extension and Community Affairs, highlighted the social value of the partnership:
“Sport is a powerful tool for education and inclusion. CEPE’s work with people with disabilities exemplifies Univille’s values and mission.”

Honored by Univille
The athletes were honored by Univille upon their return from the World Championships on October 7, at Joinville Airport (pictured below), in recognition of a journey built on talent, discipline, and the university’s ongoing support.
For years, Univille has provided its athletics track, gym, and other sports facilities for the athletes’ daily training.

Historic Achievements and Records Broken
At the World Championships, Brazil became the overall champion for the first time in the competition’s history.
Edenilson Floriani achieved 14.96 meters in the F63 shot put, surpassing his own continental record of 14.93 meters. In the F44 javelin throw, he reached 62.36 meters, setting a new world record in the F42 class.
